As part of Civic’s ongoing business strategy, we are always investigating where we can be of more use to commercial clients. This year, we identified that our Wellington customers needed more support in waste collection, site sweeping and Portaloo servicing, so we have invested in a skip bin business and purchased a company called Al’s Skip Bins. The purchase included two gantry trucks and 50 skip bins. The gantry trucks are used to deliver empty skip bins and collect full skips that are then taken to the appropriate waste site. With sizing of 3m³, 4.5m³, 6m³, 7.5m³ and 9m³, there’s a bin for every type of client. It rounds out our existing waste collection services, which can be as small kerbside rubbish collection (in 60L bags) and wheelie bin collection.
We currently provide skip bin services to large companies such as City Care, Williams Corporation and Sentinel homes. Frances Pearson, City Care Project Manager, told us recently, “You guys are performing a great service and we couldn’t be happier.” If you need help with skip bin services, get in touch. Commercial customers usually have skip bins on site for weeks, sometimes months whilst working on a building project, landscaping project or site renovations. Pricing differs for each size skip bin and so does the maximum amount of weight that you can put in the skip. If you want to separate certain materials, such as clean fill waste or metal, we can also provide additional skips on site in order to sort the waste.
“We have recently started using Civic as our main supplier for our trade waste disposal needs, and have found them to be responsive and have great customer service. Good comms can be a little hard to find in the trade industry and David at Civic sorts us out and keeps us informed,” says Shaz Roche of Kowhai Roofing, where we supply skip bins to manage their waste.
We also service residential customers, who can order a skip online and have it delivered the following day. Usually turnaround times are much less than the maximum seven days for residential customers as they want to load the skip and have it off their property as soon as possible. We find residential customers use our skips for DIY projects around the home and garden or for a general de-clutter.
This business ties nicely into our Portaloo servicing and the sweeping that we complete on construction sites, so we hope to be able to offer bundled services to construction companies moving forward. Get in touch if that sounds like something you need.
