Sometimes, suppliers become clients at Civic Waste. And when that happens, it’s great to work together, solve their problems, and build a collaborative relationship.
TR Group started out as a supplier. Since 2016, they have been providing Civic Waste with vehicles, including our first two 100% EV trucks, and 18 other vehicles in our fleet are leased from them. A few months ago, the New Zealand-owned business asked us to start taking care of waste collection at their head office in Penrose, Auckland.
We got to work with a weekly service, in which we collect general waste, paper, recyclables, and food waste. We use our 100% EV compactor to collect their mixed recyclable waste. The sorted paper and recyclables end up at Reclaim, a specialist paper and cardboard recycler. We appreciate that the TR team are doing the right thing wastewise, by separating out their food waste and recyclables. To minimise unnecessary trucks on the road, we monitor the amount of waste on site that we collect, to make sure we have the right amount of bins and collection frequency; this saves TR Group money too. Adding our EV truck into the mix enhances the sustainability of the entire service delivery.
Best of all, the client is really happy. “We have had such a positive experience with Civic Waste,” says Shane O’Grady, National Sales Manager. “Transitioning from our old waste collection provider to Civic has been seamless with excellent communication, follow through on promises, and nice-looking bins!”
